My Shining Hour- John Coltrane

Never thought I would be able to transcribe a Coltrane solo. It is faster than I can perform at this point. I chose to do it all in the upper register of the bass which allowed me to play it in the same register as the tenor...I think... Also.... couldn't get the speed up . Going to keep working on it...

Seymour Reads The Constitution- Larry Grenadier

This is a great modern song in 3/4. I love the way Larry plays 16th notes and triplets in this. His sound is very percussive and precise.

In Your Own Sweet Way: Steve Masakowski Solo

The first double-time line in the second chorus kicked my ass.  Finally just threw my hands at it and came close...  then had a few other flub-ups along the way.  Love this guy's chord solo approach.  Loads of useable stuff here, especially the self-comping.  Starting to get my head around his style... may even do another Masakowski solo soon, to complete my transformation.

Au Privave: Sonny Stitt solo

Bebop.... jeeze...  bebop.  Never really got that language into my ears/hands/nose.  This solo is pure bop.  Gonna do more bebop over the coming months.  Sonny Stitt is a fav right now.  Short and intense solos and the recordings are a lot easier (better quality) than Bird's.  Every note is perfect.   (Not mine... his) Might even try to get some heroin before the next solo.  12 bar F blues.  Didn't add the chords.   Anywhoo...
